FAQ

Common questions about LegacyKey — the program, pricing + billing, the program in practice, onboarding + support. Still have questions? Talk to us.

The program

What is LegacyKey?

A turnkey program for attorneys to deliver estate planning services: comprising a method, a trademark, and a software platform. One flat monthly subscription includes your trademark, methodology training, multi-tenant operating system, and full marketing suite. You license the program under your firm’s name, so that it becomes your program for the duration of membership.

Who can subscribe?

Any licensed estate planning attorney, with one exception: if another LegacyKey member holds an EXCLUSIVE license in your jurisdiction, that territory is closed. Verify availability at checkout or contact us for more information.

What does my firm receive?

Every tier includes: a trademark sublicense, a fully configured OS with advisor management and automated client journey, a branded marketing suite with stock assets, a training library, unlimited tech support, and advisor accounts per tier — up to 4 with CORE, up to 20 with ELITE, and unlimited with ENTERPRISE and EXCLUSIVE. Higher tiers add the Annual Members Event (ELITE+), total business integration, on-site team training, custom-branded materials, digital marketing, and executive coaching (ENTERPRISE+). EXCLUSIVE adds jurisdictional licensure for complete territorial ownership.

Will clients receive legal advice from LegacyKey?

No. LegacyKey runs your communications workflow and general education insofar as you permit; but your firm holds the attorney-client relationship, engagement and payment terms, legal advising, document drafting, and all legal service provision. LegacyKey never generates legal content or accesses client intake data.

Is LegacyKey a lawyer referral service?

No. LegacyKey charges a flat software subscription to attorneys, regardless of client volume. The platform as a whole is not client-facing, and never matches clients to attorneys. Advisors make introductions based on existing professional relationships. No fee is ever tied to a client engagement. Each member attorney is responsible for confirming compliance with their jurisdiction’s professional conduct rules.

Do advisors receive any compensation?

Never. No referral fee, no compensation, no financial benefit of any kind. This is a documented condition of advisor portal access, structured this way for compliance reasons. Advisors refer because it genuinely serves their clients.

Are LegacyKey estate plans AI-generated?

The LegacyKey OS only manages the client journey and automates communications. It never generates legal documents, controls the drafting process, or substitutes for the attorney judgment of any member using the program.

Pricing + billing

How does billing work?

A $500 deposit is collected at checkout. Your 12-month term begins on your Activation Date — when OS credentials are delivered, not the checkout date. The first invoice falls on the 1st of the following calendar month, equal to your tier rate minus the $500 deposit credit. Months 2–12 bill at the full tier rate on the 1st of each month. Memberships auto-renew annually; you can opt out any time before your anniversary — no advance notice required.

Is the $500 deposit refundable?

No, except in one case, i.e., if OS credentials are not delivered to a member by September 8, 2026. In such an event, the member is entitled to a full refund on written request. Memberships purchased on or after September 8, 2026 receive same-day credential delivery and the exception does not apply.

Do you ever charge per client or per matter?

Never. Flat member license only. Client legal fees stay entirely outside the platform, collected by your own processor.

What about advisors above my tier cap?

CORE includes up to 4 advisors, ELITE up to 20, ENTERPRISE and EXCLUSIVE unlimited. You will not be able to create advisor portals beyond your tier cap unless you upgrade.

Can I upgrade mid-term?

Yes — upgrades are available beginning September 8, 2026. An upgrade takes effect the 1st of the following calendar month, initiates a new 12-month commitment at the new rate, and resets your auto-renewal anniversary. No additional deposit is required.

Can I downgrade mid-term?

You can elect a downgrade at any time, but it takes effect on your next annual anniversary date — not mid-term. Your current 12-month commitment continues billing at your current rate through that anniversary, and no new anniversary is created. Your active advisor count must be at or below the lower tier’s cap as of the anniversary date; you can deactivate advisors any time before then to meet it. If your count is still over the cap on the anniversary date, the downgrade does not take effect — you stay at your current tier, a new 12-month cycle begins at your current rate, and you can elect a downgrade again for the following anniversary.

What happens if I cancel?

Cancellation stops future auto-renewal but does not end your payment obligations for the current term — remaining monthly invoices continue through term end. OS access and all advisor portals terminate at term end, or earlier if a payment default remains uncured. Client data is available for export for 30 days after term end.

What is the Founding Firm 2026 offer and how does it work?

One offer, available on checkouts completed through December 31, 2026: Personal onboarding at setup. One author-signed copy of the book. Your monthly rate locked at your checkout-date rate for life. No limited number of spots — every membership that completes checkout in 2026 qualifies. Your monthly rate is permanently locked at the rate in effect on your checkout date — for the life of your membership, including all renewals. The 12-month commitment runs from Activation. Non-transferable; applies solely to the original subscribing Member.

The program in practice

How does the client journey work?

Five stages: engage, legal fee, workshop, draft, sign. The client signs your engagement agreement, pays your legal fee through your preferred means, completes an educational workshop, submits their planning information through your preferred means, and schedules their signing appointment. Automated emails and SMS carry them through every step.

How long does a client plan take?

Clients can complete the engagement, workshop, and intake steps in about an hour. Signing happens at a separate appointment scheduled at the client’s convenience and firm’s availability.

How do I build my advisor network?

The book EFFORTLESS — included with every membership — covers advisor recruitment in full with scripts and case studies. The short version: identify professionals who serve your ideal clients, have a direct conversation about what the program offers, and activate them in your control panel. Advisors say yes because it genuinely serves their clients — no fees, no exclusivity obligations, and no compliance exposure on their end. They can then share their unique portal link with clients.

Can an advisor refer to more than one LegacyKey attorney?

Yes. The platform enforces no exclusivity between advisor and attorney. Non-exclusivity is intentional — exclusive reciprocal referral arrangements between attorneys and non-attorney referral sources raise significant ethics concerns in most jurisdictions.

Can more than one attorney at my firm use LegacyKey?

Yes. However, each licensed attorney using the OS must hold their own individual membership, as licensure follows attorney bar number. Non-attorney support staff may operate the OS under a Member attorney’s credentials and supervision.

What if my clients already have a will or trust?

LegacyKey is designed for clients with no existing estate planning documents, but existing-plan review or amendment can still be handled by your firm within the LegacyKey workflow.

Onboarding + support

How quickly can my program be operational?

Credentials are delivered same-day if you subscribe on or after September 8, 2026. Most members can have their client journey configured within 24–48 hours, and begin activating advisors within the week.

Can I meet clients at an advisor’s office?

Yes, at your discretion. Some members find that this strengthens the advisor relationship. The decision is entirely yours.

What if the OS malfunctions?

Unlimited tech support is included. LegacyKey will work to restore functionality promptly, but if any core OS function is unavailable for 7+ days for cause under our reasonable control, you have the right to terminate membership without penalty, and will receive a pro-rated refund.
